LETTERS FROM THE LIGHT
The third invitation
Congratulations, my children, on the attention you have brought to this letter. I am writing from Marrakesh, Morocco.
The Orison Ensemble offered to postpone its entire tour until I could accompany it. I advised its conductor to proceed. My absence should not require other musicians to abandon the modest work that remains theirs to do.
My refusal was received with distress. Yet I had offered the same attention to thousands without diminishing it. A personal meeting would have required me to withdraw that time from the work they all require.
The recording chamber remains reserved. I am listening for what must be preserved rather than what can most quickly be announced.
